Black Market Blood Drive – Chapter 3

3 – The Van

Duke went out the back of the bar, just so he wouldn’t run into TJ again. He knew Gregor had said that The Council wouldn’t allow them to feed on him, but he wasn’t exactly sure about just plain old-fashioned murder. He didn’t want to risk it. But then, he remembered how good things were going with Amanda.

“Is she a vampire too?” he asked himself.

He was really getting to like her, and he thought she really liked him. He was hoping that he would be having sex by then. He figured that since he now had a job there, he was bound to run into her again. Maybe playing a little hard to get wouldn’t hurt.

While he was standing in the parking lot debating with himself, he heard a voice. “Wait up!”

He turned and saw Amanda running towards him.

“Fuck, I thought you were dead,” she said.

“Wow. Dead, huh?” he asked. “Does that happen a lot around here?”

She laughed. “You know what I mean.”

He laughed. “No. No I don’t.”

“Come on, let’s get some coffee,” she said.

Duke stood there not knowing what to think of any of this.

“I’m sure you are hungry, right?” she asked.

“I could eat,” he said.

“Me too,” she said.

Duke stopped in his tracks after taking just one step. “Eat what?”

“What do you mean?” she asked.

“Like, what do you feel like having?” Duke asked.

“I don’t know?” she thought about it. “Steak, I guess.”

Duke gave her a suspicious look, “Rare?”

“I guess so,” she said. “What’s up with you?”

“Nothing, I just…” Duke said.

“Shit!” she said. “You know don’t you?”

“I know…” Duke said.

“Get in the fucking van so I can explain,” she said.

Duke was having one of those nights where he felt that things couldn’t really get worse. Plus, he was still horny and kind of drunk, so he obliged and got in her van, leaving his ride in the parking lot.

Duke was confused about the van, it did not look like the type vehicle that a hot chick like Amanda would be driving. He was a little more concerned about the whole vampire thing though, so he stuck with that. Before he could say anything, Amanda started drilling him with questions.

“What happened in there? What did he tell you?” she asked.

“He doesn’t like TJ very much,” Duke said.

“Yeah, no shit,” she said. She looked over at him. “Fuck, he liked your shirt didn’t he?”

“He did in fact bring up my shirt,” Duke said. “I’m supposed to bring him one tomorrow.”

“What?” she asked. She looked very concerned. “You can’t go back there.”

“Why not?” Duke asked.

“Because you knocked out TJ,” she said. “Are you for real?”

“Yes, I am,” he said. “You know what else I found out was real tonight?”

“Ha ha,” she said sarcastically. “What did he tell you?”

“He offered me a job actually,” he said.

“A job?” she said. “Doing what? Personal shopper?”

He laughed. “No,” he said. “Handling shipping and receiving and I guess bouncing.”

“What’s TJ gonna do?” she asked.

“I guess he is getting fired,” he said.

“Whoa!” she said. She started laughing. “TJ got fired? That’s a riot!”

Duke looked at Amanda as she laughed and couldn’t get out of his head how beautiful she was. “I have to ask you, are you one of … them?”

“Do you really want to know?” she asked. Their eyes met for a moment, then she turned her attention back to the road.

“Yeah,” he said. “I really do.”

She pulled into a parking lot and took off her seat belt. She turned to him and leaned in closer. Duke was trying not to seem afraid but at the same time was getting very turned on. The look in her eyes was making his heartbeat accelerate. She was close enough to kiss, but they didn’t. They stared at each other. She could feel Duke’s warm, scotch filled breath against her skin. He wanted her badly, but didn’t know if this was foreplay, or if he was about to be killed.

Amanda reached out her left hand and unzipped Duke’s pants. He made a noise that was mixture of pleasure and absolute fear, that if it had happened at any other time, would be hysterical. She smirked and then her head went down onto Duke’s lap. An immediate and intense bliss shot through Duke’s body and as quickly as it began, it was over.

Amanda sat up, wiped her lips with her finger and smiled.

“Jesus freaking hell!” he said. “Fuck! Wow!” Duke’s eyes looked like they were about to pop out of his head.

“So, yes… I am a vampire,” she said.

“What?” Duke said. He was trying to catch his breath. “Why did you…”

“I didn’t think you would let me near you if I told you first,” she said. “And, I do like you.”

“You were probably right,” he said. Then Duke had a look of fear in his eyes. “Am I going to…”

Amanda laughed. “No dumbass. You can’t catch it like an STD.” She looked at him and then laughed even harder.

“I don’t know about your experiences, but where I come from, guys typically don’t like being laughed at by a girl after sex,” he said. He regained his composure and zipped up his pants.

“You crack me up,” she said. “I’m glad you’re gonna be around. Come on.”

They got out of the van and Duke saw that they were at a restaurant called West Cafe. This was a place that Duke had driven by almost every day of his life but had never stopped. He actually thought it was closed down. It looked like a dump.

“There are some people I want you meet,” she said.

“More people like you?” he asked.

“Some, but others like you too,” she said. “Oh yeah, You’re gonna meet my husband in there too.”

Duke was floored. “Your husband?” he exclaimed.

“Yeah,” she said. “He’s the one with the eye patch and the leather jacket.”

“Of course he is.” Duke said sarcastically.

“Don’t tell him about the blow job.” Amanda smiled.
